On Wednesday, 46-year-old pro golfer Jim Furyk was named next year's US Captain in the Ryder Cup against the European squad. Furyk told reporters at the PGA of America headquarters in Florida, "This is such an honor. I'm actually a little overwhelmed. In my opinion the Ryder Cup embodies everything that is special about golf. It brings fans together from worldwide." Furyk, a US Open Champ in 2003, made his Ryder Cup debut in 1997 and was the United States' assistant captain in its victory last year against Europe.
