She is a laundress and he is an electrician, and they both work behind the scenes for a local music hall. Knowing Zou Zou’s talents, Jean tries to get the theater manager to take notice of his lifelong friend, while Zou Zou is starting to notice of her feelings for Jean. Unfortunately, the theater manager is reluctant to hire Zou Zou, but he sings a different tune when his star walks out. And as for Jean, he is falling in love with Zou Zou’s coworker, Claire (Yvette Lebon). The story become even more complicated when Jean is wrongfully accused of murder. Needing money for his defense, Zou Zou takes to the stage, but will her fame lead to fortune? And in turn, will these financial gains see Jean freed from jail?
