Denis Côté (Curling, Ta peau si lisse) is one of Canada’s most accomplished, versatile, and consistently surprising filmmakers, alternating between bigger–budget fiction features and more independent, observational hybrid documentaries. His work has, to date, always maintained Canadian subjects, and has travelled all around the world. His latest feature, a documentary entitled Ta peau si lisse that can be found in the Festival's exceptional Wavelengths section this year, follows six Québécois bodybuilders as they go about their daily regimen of maintaining their sculpted physiques in preparation for bodybuilding championships. In this Maverick Profile, Côté joins us to discuss his latest work, his career, and the art of non–fiction in Canada.
